Overview

Your training

Our programme gives you exposure to smaller businesses and multinationals alike, offering ideas for cash flow improvement and capital optimisation. We will build your skills and knowledge through rotations, to add value and contribute to meeting the needs of our clients. The projects you work on will require your analytical skills, an ability to work independently and an instinct for trends and innovations. Your training

Explore the different teams. Get to learn and build your knowledge of what really drives our Retail business.

As a Retail Banking International Graduate, you will enjoy the broadest possible exposure to our key businesses. This could mean working within our digital team to determine the future client experience or within our customer experience area looking at what drives client satisfaction. In partnership with asset management firms and insurance companies, Wealth Management team provides a range of products and solutions to help our clients grow and protect their wealth. Our clients span the full spectrum, from individuals to small business and corporate clients. We have teams of Investments Advisors, Insurance Specialists and Treasury Specialists who interact with clients, and Relationship Managers who provide expert insights on global markets and specialist advice.

Your training

We help customers across our footprint with the management of their day-to-day finances and savings. You will learn about our product offerings, how we position them in the market and the processes and strategies behind them. Your experiences will cover different segments, products and channels, through which we connect with our customers. Here are some experiences you could look forward to:

The programme provides a comprehensive grounding in commercial and corporate banking, and will see you working directly with a diverse range of business and corporate customers alongside our Commercial Bankers. Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory: provides advisory services on M&A, restructuring, strategic advisory, strategic investment and valuation with strong industry capabilities in Real Estate, Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining, Power & Utilities, Transport & Infrastructure, TMT (Technology, Media & Telecommunication)

Project and Export Finance: combines advisory, financing for large scale infrastructure and industrial projects, reserve based lending and ECA (Export Credit Agencies) and Multilateral agency backed financings.

Leveraged & Structured Solutions: provides event based and situational financing solutions across the capital structure including complex acquisition financings, structurally subordinate/ promoter financing, and structured high yield debt financing, financing solutions across other complex and specialised transactions including Commercial Real Estate and Sponsor Capital Call facilities, as well as debt/ capital structure advisory services.

Structured Finance: provides cost efficient financing as well as lease-based and asset-based financing solutions to businesses including third party asset management and advisory for shipping and aviation clients

Your training

As a Corporate Finance International Graduate, you will participate in project teams with Corporate Finance Specialists who provide innovative, sound financial solutions to demanding clients in some of our dynamic markets. You will be provided with ongoing support and training that will help you to develop your analytical, problem solving and soft skills required to undertake your role. Here are some projects you could be involved in:

Business development activities including identification and targeting of potential opportunities

Financial modelling and quantitative analysis of a transaction

Preparation of client presentations, pitch documents and industry specific research

Work with teams across the bank to manage credit approval processes, onboard clients and take responsibility for account planning

Overview

Our Financial Markets team has expertise combined with deep local market knowledge to deliver a variety of risk management, financing and investment solutions to our clients. We have capabilities across origination, structuring, sales, trading and research. Offering a full suite of fixed income, currencies, commodities, equities, capital markets and loan syndication solutions.

Your training

As an International Graduate in the Financial Markets, you will be focused in your chosen business stream, while training and business rotations into connected streams will give real context to your role. You will gain hands-on experience across four rotations, where you are an integral part of a team to help deliver solutions for our customers. Here are some projects you could be involved in:

Analyse and create pitchbooks, confirming client deals and coordinating client events as part of our Sales teams

Price, test, develop and roll-out new products as part of our Structuring teams

Provide insights on balance sheet movements, report changes in liquidity profiles and track Trading desk funding profiles as part of our ALM teams

Support senior desk members executing and inputting hedging trades and provide pricing to sales desks as part of our Trading Teams

Overview

Global Banking supports clients financial needs across more than 60 markets, providing solutions to over 5,3000 clients in some of the world’s fastest-growing economies and most active trade corridors. Our Global Banking team provides client coverage through global industries group, financial & strategic investors group, banks and broker dealers, global subsidiaries, investors and insurance, commercial real estate focused Relationship Managers.

We collaborate increasingly with other segments: introducing Commercial Banking services to our clients’ ecosystems – their networks of buyers, suppliers, customers and service providers.

Risk and Compliance (R&C)

Overview

R&C is responsible for the sustainability of our business through good management of risk and compliance across the Group, and ensuring that business is conducted in line with regulatory expectations. Our role is to:

To maintain the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), ensuring it remains appropriate to the Group’s activities, is effectively communicated and implemented across the Group, and to administer related governance and reporting processes;

To uphold the overall integrity of the Group’s risk/return decisions, and in particular to ensure that risks are properly assessed, that risk/return decisions are made transparently on the basis of this proper assessment, and controlled in accordance with the Group’s standards and risk appetite; and

To oversee and challenge the management of credit, country, market, operational, reputational, compliance, conduct, information and cyber security and financial crime risk types.

Your training

R&C International Graduate programme aims to develop skilled Risk and/or Compliance Analysts. Risk and Compliance is an emerging and ever expanding area across Banking and the wider financial services industry. A role in R&C means that you will develop a unique skillset by working alongside subject matter business experts across multiple job rotations. This will allow you to develop highly sought after specialist business knowledge and technical skills in a best in class R&C function. The R&C graduate stream is directed towards a specialisation in Risk or Compliance business in the Bank. Here are some projects you may be involved in:

Risk & Controls identification and management

Improving efficiency, accuracy and maintainability of information (e.g. using Excel / advanced Excel)

Management of on-site regulatory engagements, guidelines and best practices

Preparation of high quality submissions/reports as requested by Regulators, Internal Audit and the Group Senior Management.

Overview

Technology is reshaping the way we do business. At Standard Chartered, we are at the forefront of a drive to bring banking into the 21st century, offering more beneficial and innovative technologies for our customers. ITO is responsible for the banking operations, systems development and technology infrastructure which underpin the Bank’s client services. ITO defines and implements the Bank’s digital and innovation agenda.

Your training

We have developed an exciting 18-month programme designed to fast track you to an established career in ITO in the Bank. This programme will build your technical and business knowledge through rotations in our core client facing businesses and other ITO functions, developing a deep understanding of how IT Services delivered to our customers. You will follow a tailored training and development plan and will be supported and encouraged along the way through buddy and mentoring schemes, and have the opportunity to network with our senior management team.

Group Chief Financial Officer Function (GCFO)

Overview

The Group Chief Financial Officer Function incorporates seven support functions: Finance, Treasury, Strategy, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, Supply Chain and Property. These support functions are fundamental to contributing to the Bank’s strategy, vision, and profitability. They help us operate efficiently and keep us competitive in the unique markets we operate in. This is where you’ll develop deep knowledge of the Bank through exposure across a breadth of functions.

Your training

We will provide you with on-the-job learning, formal training, and technical skill development from subject matter experts. You’ll begin your programme with hands-on experience in Finance where you will be involved in financial reporting and analysis which allows the Bank to plan, run the business meet our regulatory, investor and performance obligations. And develop your knowledge across other areas including but not limited to:

Treasury – you’ll learn to ensure the integrity of the balance sheet, partnering with the business to drive an optimal asset, liability and capital mix, whilst acting in the best interest of the bank.

Corporate Development – responsible for advising on and executing the Group’s inorganic initiatives, including acquisitions, disposals, investments, strategic alliances, equity capital raisings and other related projects.

Strategy – where you will learn to develop strategy for the Group or the business which involves analysis, project management and execution of these projects making it a faster, better and more profitable organisation that delivers for our clients, people and regulators.
