Retail management isn’t for everyone. Every day is different and it involves early starts, late finishes and working weekends and bank holidays. But if you enjoy thinking on your feet and helping customers at the heart of the action – this is the scheme for you.

What our 2-year scheme involves

Working with different store teams, you’ll learn about our operations, systems, procedures and how to run a store. You’ll get stuck into new challenges and go beyond the 9-5. It’s hard work, but very rewarding and we’ll support you all the way.

From the word go you will be running your own team and then into a senior manager role – leading a department, managing colleagues, driving projects and getting people on board with your new ideas. Our structured reviews will guide your progress and help you become a future store manager.

What you’ll need

A minimum 2:2 degree

Positive attitude, resilient, determinedbe approachable and a great listener and communicator

To be a people person who can lead teams, inspire a diverse group of colleagues and share your passion for food with customers and colleagues

A full UK driving licence

The flexibility to move around the UK to grow your skills in different stores. (You won’t necessarily get to work at your nearest store).

As we make 60% of our fresh food in-house, our manufacturing team is at the heart of our success.

The UK’s 2nd largest fresh food manufacturer, we’ve 18 sites producing everything from bread, fish and meat to flowers, veg and salad. It’s how we provide good quality at great value and guarantee freshness from field to fork like no other supermarket can.

What our 2-year scheme involves

Joining a variety of teams at our different manufacturing sites, you’ll motivate colleagues, develop your leadership skills, work on exciting live projects and help us to simplify and improve our manufacturing processes.

You’ll also go on a placement in store to learn more about our retail operations and how the role you play in manufacturing impacts on the customer experience. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself a team or shift manager, leading a team of up to 50 people. It all starts here.

Getting the best food and products to our customers is an immense and complex operation. Discover how it works while building skills and knowledge for the future.

We make sure 1,000s of products arrive in tiptop shape so our customers can put their favourite products in their shopping baskets. This isn’t a 9-5 job, every day is different and can involve early starts, late finishes and working weekends and bank holidays.

What our 2-year scheme involves

This is an opportunity to explore every aspect of an international supply chain- from forecasting, distribution planning, working in our distribution sites in transport, ambient or fresh warehousing, to merchandising and space planning for our products.

Taking on different roles and a variety of exciting projects, you’ll quickly develop the leadership and coaching skills you need to head up your own team. At the end of the scheme you will progress to a Shift Manager role in one of our Distribution sites or a specialist in Supply Chain.

A career in buying offers plenty of variety. You’ll source and select ranges. You’ll negotiate deals and agreements. You’ll forecast sales and trade plans and you’ll play a big role in everything from promotions and new product development to product launches, marketing and packaging.

In our trading teams there may be the opportunity to go out and meet our suppliers to build great relationships. It’s why we are regarded some of the best trading teams in the country.

What our 2-year scheme involves

Taking on early responsibility in a fast-paced area where strategies can change in the blink of an eye, you’ll start as an assistant buyer before training to become a buyer of a product area.

Learning on-the-job, you’ll experience supplier negotiations, spend time with our experienced buyers and go on placements within a store to understand our customers and colleagues, before being given your own buying area. This scheme gives you the chance to impact on our success, make us even more competitive and eventually take charge of a category, including budget responsibility.

Behind every successful business is a successful finance team.

Impacting on every part of Morrisons, we look after the finances and support future plans and decision making by providing insight and expertise. There’s more to our finance team than meets the eye. We offer a variety of opportunities and you’ll need a flair for both analysing and presenting data.

What our 3-year scheme involves

You’ll work on real-life projects and get involved in different areas from accounting, tax and treasury to financial planning, analysis and business intelligence. You could find yourself helping our buying teams deliver great value offers for our customers. Or you could support, advise and help our teams to pursue new opportunities.

As well as learning on-the-job, you’ll  study for a level 7 CIMA qualification. We’ll support you by paying for your exam fees and giving you study leave. This scheme involves three finance placements. You’ll gain the skills and experience you need to enjoy a rewarding career as an accountant.

What you’ll need

A minimum 2:1 degree

A minimum of 3 A levels at Grade B or equivalent

A minimum Grade C (4) in Maths and English GCSEs

What our 2-year scheme involves

Working as part of different central teams, you’ll develop new skills and learn about our business and industry. Tackling  problems and getting stuck into business priority projects, you’ll find out where your talents lie and which team suits you the best. As well as a variety of central placements, you’ll experience working in a retail store  to get a better understanding of our customers and their needs.

Over 100,000 colleagues ‘Make Morrisons’. So, our Retail People Managers have a really important role to play. Getting stuck into all kinds of people activities right from the start, you’ll learn how to run the people function in a store as well as having experience of how to be the Manager in charge of the overall operation.

As our colleagues don’t work 9 to 5 – you won’t either. You’ll work a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays to support our people. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a level 5 CIPD apprenticeship.

What our 2-year scheme involves

After structured training and shadowing an existing People manager, you’ll gain responsibility for people in one of our stores. You’ll gain a good understanding of the vital role our people team plays and the big impact it makes on improving performance.

As well as gaining hands-on experience in our stores, you could also find yourself with the opportunity to work in one of our other people functions such as manufacturing  logistics or central. Supported every step of the way by mentors, buddies, line managers and our friendly team, your people journey will give you the skills you need to drive our future success and become a great People manager.

Working directly with our Buying team, you’ll gain a brilliant insight into the Nutmeg business. From day one, you’ll be helping our Buyers to plan and source a competitively priced product range. In fact, you’ll be accountable for your own category, from the strategy and products to performance and quality. But rest assured that you’ll work closely with teams to make sure your plans succeed. Our skilled industry professionals will help you build an understanding of customer profiles and the latest market trends. And at the same time, you’ll hone your negotiation skills and commercial sense. With these talents, you’ll maximise sales and build strong relationships with suppliers all around the globe. Plus, you’ll get involved in department strategy and shaping Nutmeg for the future.
