Operational Management

Operations are on the front line of our external services and ensure the smooth running and delivery of the business

What do we do?

Distribution Operations is a global enterprise comprising myriad functions that support the success of the business, including Project Management, Business Analysis, Investment Operations, Brokerage and Process Automation to name but a few. The majority of our roles are based at our Kingswood office in Surrey.

Client Services / Customer Relations

Client Services play a critical part in first line customer care. They resolve a wide and complex variety of enquiries via secure messages, letters, phone calls and social media posts. UK Customer Operations is responsible for a broad range of vital operational functions including automated and manual dealing, pricing of our onshore, offshore and platform fund ranges, transfers and client account management.

Retail Pensions

Based in Kingswood and India, the Retail Pensions team are responsible for the administration of the Fidelity Retail Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) from an operational perspective. The team handles transfers in/out, annuities, trivial commutations, divorces, deaths and corporate actions.

Pensions Operations

Pension Operations aims to deliver customer service excellence to Fidelity’s Institutional and Workplace Investing (WI) customers. Each touch point during the customer’s journey is important; from the transitioning of a pension scheme through to the guidance we provide to members at retirement.

Operational Development

This department project manages Retail Operations, Pension Operations, Client Services and Shared Services in the UK Ireland and India. This includes managing activities such as gathering business requirements, creating / re-engineering processes and procedures, delivering training, completing business contingency planning, introducing operational controls, providing questions and answers for the customer facing teams.

What will I be doing?

Our aim is to produce the best operational leaders of the future. During your two-and-a-half year programme you will undergo five six-month rotations, starting in client services to understand the foundations of Fidelity, followed by rotations across our technical, change or project management areas. Once you have developed your core knowledge and gained wider business exposure, you will then have the opportunity to explore areas of interest or specialism as you move in to your final rotation.

Conduct fundamental bottom-up research into publicly traded companies and identify attractive investment opportunities for our client funds

What do we do?

Research Analysts at Fidelity meet with company management, speak to their customers, competitors, suppliers, and industry experts to fully understand their chances of success or failure, and to forecast how their share price is likely to evolve over the coming years.

Carry out industry and company research

We research and analyse the products, services, strategies, competitive strengths and weaknesses and financial data of hundreds of publicly traded companies in developed and emerging markets.

Model and value companies

We model companies to quickly and accurately forecast their share price drivers and future earnings, allowing us to estimate their value. This allows our Portfolio Managers to better understand the business model of the company and to judge whether it will be a winner or loser in its industry.

Make recommendations

Robust analysis gives our associates and analysts the information needed to make a buy or sell recommendation on each company to our team of Portfolio Managers.

What will I be doing?

During the course of your early career within Equity Research, you will rotate through several sectors and build the base of expertise you need to become either a Career Analyst or a Portfolio Manager.

What do we do?

Our Fixed Income team manages debt securities in a range of funds across the globe covering investment grade, high yield, emerging market debt, hybrids and money markets — all in a highly collaborative investment process.

Research

Our skilled specialist fundamental and quantitative researchers use a model-based approach to identify the best investment opportunities for our clients funds. Researchers have a strong links with colleagues in Equities and Multi-Asset.

Trading

The eyes and ears to the market, traders manage counterparty relationships, navigate market liquidity, and generate relative value ideas — all to monitor client fund positioning.

Client focus

With ultimate accountability to our clients, Portfolio Managers manage portfolio risk and bring together ideas from the research and trading teams to generate the best possible returns. Investment directors liaise with clients and our sales / distribution teams to generate and communicate client interest.

What will I be doing?

You’ll gain a holistic understanding of the Fixed Income investment process by rotating across up to four departments – fundamental Credit Research, Quantitative Research, Trading, and Investment Directing. We’ll help you select the rotations that match your skills, interests and ambitions as closely as possible.

Multi-Asset

Deliver outcome-focused investment solutions constructed from different asset classes

What do we do?

It’s important that a fund makes a return on the initial investment. Our job is to research and decide on the best markets and funds to invest in, whether it be a Fidelity fund or that of another asset manager.

Research markets

Our top-down research approach looks at macroeconomics and market knowledge to help guide investment decisions.

Research funds

Through analysis we make recommendations on which strategies are worth investing in.

Create funds of funds

Marrying research from different sources and creating funds of funds for a lower-risk investment.

What will I be doing?

You will work with senior Analysts and Portfolio Managers, making sure their investment decisions are well-informed.

Over the course of a 12-week programme, you’ll research individual stocks and present your findings to a panel of senior investors. If you show promise and improvement over the course of the summer, you could be offered a place on our graduate programme.
