Programme information – Analyst

Without exceptionally talented analysts, our business would not be able to thrive.

The demands of evolving energy, services, insurance and connected homes markets are huge and often complex. To satisfy the changing needs of our customers, and to continue to grow our business, we need to engage in a wide range of sophisticated analytical activity.

Working across a wide range of functions and teams, and supported by industry-leading analytics and insight tools, you’ll help identify the biggest risks and opportunities facing our business.

You’ll be stretched and challenged throughout the programme but there will be lots of opportunities for you to learn as well, both through formal training sessions and from the more experienced analysts working alongside you.  As your career aspirations become clearer, we’ll help you to identify possible permanent roles within the business.

PROGRAMME INFORMATION- Analyst energy marketing trading

Influence key commercial decisions and become an expert at turning data into useful information

Energy Marketing & Trading is our window onto the global wholesale commodity market. The teams here execute procurement and risk management strategies for British Gas and hedging strategies for Centrica’s Power and Gas production businesses in the UK and Europe. They also develop and execute their own trading strategies in response to market opportunities.

It is an entrepreneurial, innovative and fast-paced environment to work in, and the business has ambitious plans to diversify and grow. For example, we recently signed our first US LNG export contract, giving us the option to send cargoes all over the world.

As a graduate, you will be helping to provide the quality analytics on which the business depends. Working across a wide range of teams and functions, which could include trading and optimisation, LNG, origination, finance or risk, you’ll support commercial decision-making and risk management, relating either to the origination and structuring of commodity contracts with clients or to the development and execution of trading strategies.
